SEMINARS AND WORKSHOPS
Cultivating The Spirit to Work
Influencing Hope, Courage, Action and Belief
Overview
"The only power we have as cultivators
of other's spirits
is to create environments in which individuals are able to grow, change
and blossom from the inside out,
according to their own ripeness.
The good news in all this, of course, is that
everyone is ripe for something!"
-Denise Bissonnette
In this captivating presentation, Denise Bissonnette
presents a unique and inspiring framework around
the critical and often elusive issues of motivation and self-esteem, as
they relate to preparing people for the work of the world. This workshop
gives employment professionals with methods and
insights for strengthening an applicant’s motivation and spirit to work.
Focus will be in the following areas:
- Assessing the hopes, dreams, talents and basic human
needs for people on levels of skill and ability.
- Examining the beliefs, perceptions, assumptions and
perspective that job seekers hold toward working.
- Increasing a person’s ability to take calculated
risks and learn from feedback.
- Enabling people to move beyond
perceived and real barriers to employment.
- Helping people through the necessary transitions
which accompany change.
- Exploring avenues for assisting people in developing
positive habits and intelligent plans for putting their intentions into
action!
In this seminar, participants will gain a heightened
respect for their clients, practical and effective tools for immediate
use, and a revitalized vision for their own possibilities in their work.

Materials

The Cultivating the Spirit to Work
workbook is the text for this seminar.
Target Audience
This seminar is designed for human
services professionals (teachers, employment
counselors, case managers, job search trainers, job developers, career
counselors, etc.) who feel
challenged and/or stymied by the "lack of motivation" of individuals who
are supposed to be entering or re-entering the workplace. It effectively
demystifies the nature of "motivation" - showing where and how it can be
influenced in practical ways.
